Can Gelat produce a range of well-balanced, ecological terroir wines. The vineyards benefit from the fresh microclimate of the Tramuntana mountains and they are nourished by a unique soil combination of limestone and clay.
Can Gelat Gran Vi is a red blend of Syrah, Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and the indigenous grapes Callet and Mantonegro. In a few words, this red wine is juicy, with an aromatic complexity of black and red fruit, limestone and leather.
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel. Afterwards, the wine was aged for 8 months, with a third in stainless steel, a third in new French oak, and a third in second-year French oak, creating a complex and nuanced flavour. All of the 500-litre French oak barrels were lightly toasted.
Here's a taste of what you can expect from this wine:
- Aromas: The blend's bouquet consists of black and red fruit such as blackberries, currants and cherries.
- Palate: On the palate, there is a burst of juiciness and a slight 'tinkling' on the tongue, followed by a refreshing mint aftertaste. Fruit, white pepper, bay leaf and leather all come together in this wine, leaving a finish of coffee hints and a slight bitterness. This wine is wonderfully long-lasting and pleasantly merges with the lingering fruit flavours.
- Serving Temperature: An elegant and inviting wine that is best enjoyed slightly chilled, at 18º.
- Pairing: Perfect with all kinds of meat and for after-dinner sipping.
In short, Can Gelat Gran Vi is a wine that balances sustainability with flavour, offering a unique sensory experience with every sip.
