El Lagar de Moha Antigona is a young red wine from Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, made by the winemaker Alberto Moro.
The vineyard, located close to the Duero River, is cultivated using organic farming techniques that are audited and certified by the Organic Agriculture Council of Castilla y León. The vines are planted on terraces with boulders, which facilitate water drainage and prevent cryptogamic diseases. The vineyard is monitored with as few treatments as possible, allowing for increased biodiversity and genuine expression of the grapes.
The grapes were harvested in September and October, and the best grapes were selected and cooled before pressing. Fermentation took place with their own yeasts in concrete tanks, with some undergoing carbonic maceration. The wines were then blended and left to settle before bottling.
Here's a taste of what you can expect from this wine:
- Appearance & Aromas: This purple-red wine has a medium-high aromatic intensity, with notes of blueberries, blackberries, and a balsamic and menthol background.
- Palate: Antigona is light, smooth, fresh, round and balanced, with balsamic aromas and vegetal hints in the retronasal phase.
- Pairing: Antigona is a fresh red wine, so it is perfect to drink alone or paired with a variety of foods such as cheese, red meat, and rice.
