Titerok-Akaet Barranco del Obispo is a remarkable white blend crafted from Volcanic Malvasía, Listán Blanco, and Diego grapes, grown on ungrafted vines that are nearly 200 years old. These ancient vines thrive at an altitude of 495 metres in La Geria, a steeply sloped vineyard in Lanzarote, where the volcanic soils impart a distinctive character to this wine.
WINE MAKING
This wine exemplifies artisanal winemaking and respect for tradition:
- The grapes are harvested by hand and handled with care. A portion is manually destemmed, while the rest undergoes fermentation semi-carbonique in used chestnut barrels.
- This technique preserves the wine’s vibrant fruitiness and balances it with a fine, refreshing acidity.
- Post-fermentation, the wine is aged for 9 months on its fine lees, with weekly batonnage to enhance texture and complexity.
The result is a wine that is both elegant and fresh, showcasing the unique qualities of its terroir and grape varieties.
TASTING NOTES
- Appearance: Bright, golden hues with exceptional clarity.
- Aroma: Aromas of ripe tropical fruit, citrus zest, and subtle floral notes, complemented by a hint of nuttiness and minerality from the chestnut barrels.
- Palate: Fresh and lively, with a fine acidity that enhances the wine’s drinkability. Layers of stone fruit and citrus are beautifully balanced by a smooth, creamy texture and a long, complex finish.
- Food Pairing: Barranco del Obispo is a versatile white wine that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including grilled seafood and shellfish, creamy pasta dishes, lightly spiced poultry or pork, and fresh, seasonal salads.
