Titerok-Akaet Finca Guatisea is an exceptional single-varietal white wine crafted from Malvasía Volcánica, a cross between Malvasía Aromática and Marmajuelo.
This unique variety, known for its natural acidity and body, thrives on the sandy Jable soils of Lanzarote, which are blanketed by a thick layer of volcanic ash. With only 20 hectares remaining, this wine is a tribute to the enduring legacy of this remarkable grape.
WINE MAKING
The grapes are hand-harvested from a steeply sloping vineyard in San Bartolomé, perched at 200m above sea level. The vines, averaging 100 years in age, are tended organically, blending tradition with sustainability.
The winemaking process includes:
- A 3-day cold maceration period after destemming and crushing.
- Long spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats.
- Ageing for 11 months on fine lees in ceramic spheres, with occasional batonnage to enhance texture and complexity.
This meticulous process ensures a wine that is both vibrant and expressive. Only 374 bottles are produced, making it a true rarity.
TASTING NOTES
- Appearance: Bright, light yellow with a brilliant clarity.
- Aromas: Intense and alluring aromas of apricot, peach, mango, grapefruit, and pine resin, with balsamic hints of basil and a touch of dried herbs.
- Palate: Balanced acidity with an ultra-fine texture. Pithy tannins add structure, leading to a long, unctuous finish.
- Food Pairing: Finca Guatisea is wonderfully versatile. Enjoy it as a refreshing aperitif or pair it with savoury dishes. Grilled fish with pico de gallo is a great pairing, evoking dreams of Lanzarote’s vibrant flavours.
