Verónica Ortega's Cobrana 2021 'Vino de Villa de Congosto':

The latest vintage of this cuvée is a remarkable wine made from a mix of old vines – some of which are over 90 to 100 years old – from the town of Congosto.

The vineyards feature a blend of grape varieties, which is common in the old vineyards in the Bierzo region. Predominantly Mencia grapes, this wine also includes other local varieties, including Doña Blanca, Palomino, Godello, Alicante Bouschet, and Estaladiña.

Situated in Bierzo Alto, Cobrana is a small town within the Municipality of Congosto, bordering the Designation of Origin. With an altitude of 750m, this area is among the last to harvest in the Bierzo region, resulting in a wine with a refreshing and crisp character that is distinct from lower valley wines.

Here's a taste of what you can expect from this wine:

  • Aromas: Cobrana is a light, lively wine with intense notes of red fruits, tart strawberries, and raspberries with a balsamic background and hints of mint.
  • Palate: Fresh and elegant, it delights the palate with a pleasant balance.
