Verónica Ortega, an innovative oenologist, originally from Cádiz, honed her skills by training with some of the world's best winemakers. She worked with Álvaro Palacios, Daphne Glorian, Raúl Pérez, and legendary wineries in Burgundy, such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Combier in Crôzes-Hermitage. She eventually settled in Valtuille de Abajo, Bierzo, where she founded her winery in 2010.
Gloc 2019 is a unique Ancestral rosé wine. The wine emerged as a result of a friendship and collaboration between Verónica Ortega and the Gómez Lucas brothers from Bodega Vinifícate in Cadiz.
Gloc Ancestral Rosado 2019 is a blend of the Mencía and Palomino grape varieties, sourced from old vines in Valtuille de Abajo. The grapes were destemmed and then underwent an 8-hour skin maceration. The wine was bottled after spontaneous fermentation with its indigenous yeasts. It was then aged for over three years in bottle, and eventually disgorged by hand in January 2023.
Here's a taste of what you can expect from this wine:
- Aromas: A fine bubbled rosé wine with a complex nose. It presents a blend of red fruit, raspberry, and redcurrants, with a spicy touch of cinnamon, and clove. The wine has a marked mineral background and a vibrant, silky texture.
- Palate: This wine showcases fresh, crisp fruit with a saline touch. It is very tasty, fresh, and balanced in the mouth, and its finesse and vivacity stand out.
- Serving Temperature: 10-12º
